The Mission of Next2Eden  

     The more we care for ourselves and for our environment the healthier we will be. It's easy to say, but much harder to put into practice. That's where Next2Eden plays a role. 

The mission of Next2Eden is to inspire the people of San Diego, and beyond, to live more sustainable, healthy and empowered lives.  

     The key word in Next2Eden's mission statement is inspire, which literally means "filled with spirit". Inspire implies a sense of optimism and resilience.  When you are inspired you find the resources to get the job done. Thus, on one level Next2Eden is about learning how to live a more healthy lifestyle...but on a deeper level it is message of hope and empowerment.

Next2Eden helps the San Diego community move toward a better quality of life through:

• well-written, motivating and pertinent articles and videos on healthy living 

• a web log by Chris Scott, Ph.D. on  "What is health?" 

• promotion of healthy living events  

• promotion of  providers actively following Next2Eden's mission

• an on-line forum to increase community awareness

    Next2Eden respects Western medicine and science while recognizing the wisdom of other cultures.  Next2Eden explores the concept of health from a wide range of perspectives: from integrative medicine to advances in green energy production. Next2Eden promotes sensible and innovative ideas that improve health. 

The hope is to engender a new awareness of the forces that effect the quality of our daily lives.  The major benefit of joining Next2Eden as a member is that you can promote green and health related events at no cost.  So, please join the Next2Eden community when you get a chance.

     Welcome to Next2Eden!  Next2Eden is my gift to San Diego.   This is as much a journey of growth for me as I hope it will be for you. 

     I am a scientist and a university teacher who has studied disease and health for many years. Physical health is just one of many levels of health.  I believe the great majority of us want to live a healthy life.  The difficulty is finding the motivation to try new things...and the motivation to sometimes let go of old habits.  Hopefully, Next2Eden will be an inspiring force in your life. 

Next2Eden will publish local health related events so you will have a better understanding of what is going on in San Diego. Most importantly Next2Eden is a site you can trust because it is carefully being nurtured by me, Chris Scott, a local member of your community.

Please join me in exploring the question, "What is health?".  I have started a web log of my findings. The goal is to move my communications into video format...simply because it's more fun to learn that way.
